my values

integrity

honesty is my middle name.
no, seriously.

it’s that important to me.

I care about you, and I care about your thriving. I care about truth and integrity, honesty and authenticity. Integrity can look like a lot of different things, but here are a few things that it means to me:
preparedness, thoroughness, jobs served well done
and honest communication from beginning to end.

celebration

my hope is that you feel celebrated in your story.
confident in your calling.
assured of your identity.

have you ever witnessed a child learning to walk? what happens?
they take a step forward and the audience hoops and hollers out of excitement, out of celebration.
and then? what does the child do?
they walk forward more confidently.

that is my hope for you.

stewardship

God has entrusted me with not only the craft of photography, but the hearts of each client I serve.

I will joyfully and enthusiastically serve you, care for you, and steward your story well. I also intend to steward the resources He has given me well, and do all I can to create a generation behind us that has a healthy and whole world to live in. I think generationally and therefore, to the best of my ability, live generationally.

branding FAQs

  • If you have an office, a studio or access to the ideal place to shoot, we start there. If you work out of your kitchen with two dogs and five toddlers running around, we brainstorm and find a location that compliments your brand’s identity.

If you don’t have a space - don’t sweat it. We have many great options at our disposal. Local studios in the QCA, beautiful outdoor parks and downtown streets, back pocket locations I keep in mind, hotels and Airbnb’s. The questionnaire I send you narrows this down, and we decide the perfect location together!

  • Love. this. question!

First, whatever makes you feel most like YOU and whatever speaks to your ideal client!

I have a style guide that I will send you once we have booked a shoot that covers the general do’s and don’ts. After reviewing that, we will chat about your wardrobe, your style and create a vision that not only screams your business but also looks amazing behind the lens. Often clients will change between 2-3 times during a session in order to create material that is usable for a longer period of time. Have jackets? A hat? We include or remove small details that make the same moment look like different days.

  • I primarily shoot with a full frame DSLR Canon camera and sometimes a mirrorless R6. I always carry around a 50mm lens, and depending on the shoot, will also shoot with a 70-200mm lens, or a macro lens. I play around with film here and there, as well as drone imaging (que store fronts!) I always take my trusted tripod, off camera flash equipment and a myriad of batteries. My bag is also home to a variety of creative prompts, and depending on your shoot, will house objects and supplies specific to the needs of your shoot.

  • When I get return from our session, I immediately open up my Macbook Pro and download the raw files onto an external hard drive. From there, I frequently back up my work until your online gallery is delivered. Each photo is scanned for clarity, emotion, connection and uniqueness. The ones that bring home the bacon get edited and perfected, and the rest get deleted. I utilize Adobe Bridge and do the later part of my editing in Adobe Photoshop.

  • Great question! In short, no.

I don’t provide the .RAW files to clients for two main reasons. The .RAW images are files that are straight from my camera & untouched. At this stage, they don’t represent my art, and they aren’t even color corrected. A secondary reason, is that it also takes special software I’ve purchased to convert them into an image so that you can view it on your screen. This is a long process, and files are massive. If you are concerned about my images looking wildly different from your current branding, see the prompt below!

  • First, thanks for asking up front!

As a small business client, I do offer flexibility in terms of brightness and contrast, because we are shooting for YOUR business! However, I should be capturing your brand in camera, and not creating it in post - which means that your brand’s identity should be presented largely through the image itself, and less through the particular edit. I know it may sound strange.. but it’s true! If you are wanting an elegant, light feel, we need to shoot in a bright, white and airy area. If you want moodier, we will choose a darker area. We talk about this and any specific preferences during our consultation. If you always desaturate greens, let me know! We will discuss this and I will take your preferences into consideration, but ultimately editing decisions are made final by me.

As a general rule of thumb, all of my images are color corrected, clean edited and true to color. I do not do intensive amounts of desaturation, darkening, or color adjusting.

  • Nah. Well…? Sort of. I started photographing when I was a teenager in art class. From there, I did take a couple of college art classes, but that’s not what my degree is in. That plant obsession? I went to school for that. I have a degree in Agronomy (plant and soil science) and International Relations. But, since re-kindling my love for art, I have spent countless hours self-teaching, gathering information, practicing, failing, and doing it all over again. I am always asking questions, taking courses and learning more. I care deeply about the quality of work I send you.
